Alfred Lansing (July 21, 1921 – 1975) was an American journalist and writer, best known for his book ''Endurance'' (1959), an account of Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic explorations.〔(Fresh Fiction web-site ) Last retrieved August 17, 2008〕 ==Early career== Lansing was a native of Chicago, Illinois. After serving more than five years in the Navy, he enrolled at Northwestern University, and majored in journalism. Until 1949 he edited a weekly newspaper in Illinois.
